At some point in your life, you will probably need one for things like hiring a new babysitter or nanny, or when a shady new neighbor moved in next to your house, or you have an opening for your business, etc. In situations like these, you absolutely need to find out the background of any of these people to see if they have a criminal background.

If you have any children or you have a spouse, what would you do if you got a call at work from the police department and found out that your wife or your son or daughter had been attacked by someone that you had hired? If you had simply had a backround check of this person, you would have discovered their criminal history.
