The basic Background Check -
After the last two three! years of doing my own private detective work to finally catch my cheating spouse in the act, I can tell you with conviction that everyone with access to the internet can locate practically all the data required for a background check at very little or no cost. If I could do it, you can too!
If you suspect someone is cheating or lying to you, check their background record by going to your local courthouse in person and using their computer system to search the person’s name and address. Keep in mind that the term “Background Check” is pretty broad; usually including a criminal records check, civil court records (lawsuits, judgments, etc.) search, DMV driving record check, a credit check for bankruptcies, employer check for the last ten years, and an educational reference check. Collect every tidbit of public record information you can find on your subject and put it into a excel spreadsheet for analysis.
In some cases, you may also need to obtain phone records or reverse a phone number to complete your background check. All of this information (with the exception of some telephone records) are considered to be public records, and will be available to you in some form for free or at low-cost.
Private investigators are very thorough and diligent collectors of information. Simply train yourself to think and operate in this manner and above all, be persistent! Become an online search whiz, and work the telephone to death calling court clerks, property record offices, sheriff desk officers, previous employers, teachers, friends, family and former lovers of your subject to get the information you need to make your own informed decision!
